Double Eye Surgery

Thursday (24th) was Mike and Isaac's big day. Mike was born cross eyed as a baby and had surgery to fix the problem. Over time Mike's eye drifted off to the side. He was told by other doctors this would be a problem he would live with. But after talking to the Doctor on Tuesday he was told the problem could be fixed!

Isaac would also go cross eyed when he would hold things close to his face or concentrate on things. Surgery would have to be done to fix the problem. Mike scheduled both the surgeries for Thursday. We figured it would be easiest to get both of them done on the same day. Now I don't know if it was such a good idea!

The Doctor said it was a simple surgery with not a lot of pain. The only thing you would really feel is itchy eyes like there is dirt in your eyes. This was not the case! Isaac was sore for the first day now he seems fine most of the time. It was really sad when he came out of surgery. He scram for an hour or so and kept saying "I don't like eye surgery, I thought it would help me see better but know I am BLIND!" He had a hard time at first but Isaac is always tough! Mike is still in a lot of pain and it was been almost 4 days. Mike says it is the worst pain he has ever felt. Even worse than breaking his leg. The Doctor said Mike could go back to work the next day and be fine, but there is no way he can go to work for another day or 2. He can barely open his eyes. Mike's eyes look great. I don't see a change in Isaac's eyes, it may even look worse to me, it's hard to tell. It takes up to 6 weeks for the eye to heal so we will have to wait awhile to see the final results. Reflections of one year ago today

The house is quiet, the kids are in bed, and Mike and I could not help but think back to where we were last year at this very minute (9:00). One year ago today our little 4 month old angel had a very serious infection called Necrotizing Entercolitis (NEC) and requiring an emergency surgery to remove 1 foot of dead bowel and save his life. The next few days were very critical but our little fighter pulled through! He still has a long road a head but we are thankful for every milestone he has. We would not have made it through with out all of the prayers, fasting, and love and support of our wonderful friends and family. We are very blessed to have such a wonderful support system. It was a LONG 4 months, Thank Very Much for all of your love and prayers I know they were answered.

Post Surgery, connected to almost everything imaginable. And our little 4 month old dropped down to 7 1/2 pounds.

Isaac

Okay I'm feeling a little guilty that I always post about Luke so my goal is to post about all of the other boys too and what they are up to. So I will start with Isaac.
Isaac started Kindergarten about 2 weeks ago in Mrs. Lee's class (Kaleb's teacher last year). Isaac loves school his favorite subject is computers and "TP" (P.E.). Last week was Mom's and Muffins. The moms read to the kids and they eat muffins. This was good bonding time with Isaac and mommy. We took Isaac to the eye doctor a couple of weeks ago. His sight is good but we found out that he is cross eyed! It isn't that bad just when he concentrates on something or holds something close to his face. Sad thing is we never really noticed before. He always makes such goofy faces we always thought he was just goofy Isaac. The only way to fix the problem is surgery. As soon as things get cleared with insurance we will set a day for same day surgery.
Isaac is the comedian in the family. He just likes to have fun and is very care free. He loves to play football and soccer. And would play video games all day if we would let him. We love Isaac keeping excitement in the family!
