Today we took the boys swimming at the Scera Pool in Orem. We were excited to get wet with Lukie. We put Aquaguard (plastic shield) over his broviac, and wrapped his chest, GJ tube, and ostomy in Glad press and seal wrap. He wasn't happy with this but once we side tracked him with water he forgot all about it and had a blast. He was still worried about the pool, but we all played and Lukie got wetter than ever before. He still can't submerge his chest in water, and he is too scared any way. His broviac stayed dry, we only needed to change an ostomy bag. It was a good time. We are really enjoying going and doing some "normal" family things together.
Last week the boys loaded the wagon up with Popsicles and went around the neighborhood in search of customers. They even out ran the ice cream man! Total earnings $5.00:)
So bedtime at our house is a complete nightmare with Isaac and Lukie. Neither one will sleep in their room. Isaac sleeps on our floor every night, and Lukie sleeps comfortably between mommy and daddy! Because of Lukies many hospital visits and being sick most of winter and spring with ear infections and other yucky virus's, he (or we) has a bad habit of sleeping with mommy and daddy. When I say comfortably I mean HE is comfortable, taking up the WHOLE bed while Mike and I fall off the sides:) And Isaac is just plain scared and sleeps on our floor. The other night I walked into their room to find that Isaac had climbed into bed with Lukie and fell asleep! I was a little worried about the idea, seeing how wild they both sleep (especially with Lukie's tubes), and Isaac wetting the bed. But guess what........they slept great! Lukie didn't wait up until 7:30, that is a first in a looooooooooong time! Besides Isaac waking up at 4:00 am for a bedtime story they both stayed in their room! HIP HIP HOORAY!! But unfortunately so far it has only been a one night thing. But it was good while it lasted!
Mike gave the boys their annual summer buzz. Isaac wanted an old man's hair cut. So we let him enjoy an old man hair cut for a few fun pictures. By the way that is his "old man face" he is making:) I love my silly Isaac!
This week was Springville's Art City Days. Friday we took the boys to see the hot air balloons. The weather was overcast so the Balloons inflated but did not fly because of bad weather. So we watched them blow up the balloons and then bring them back down:) This was the first year Isaac wasn't scared but Lukie was a little worried. After the balloons the boys decorated the wagon and scooter for the children's parade. Saturday was the "grand" Springville parade. This is the first year Luke has been well enough to attend a parade. He loved to dance and chase after the candy. Luke would run after the big boys and get all of the candy he could. But he remembered that he doesn't eat so he gave everything he picked up to his little cousin Kezlyn. Such a gentleman:) In the afternoon we had a BBQ at Mike's parents house. This weekend is also Orem's Summerfest. We came home and put the kids to bed while Mike and I sneaked outside and watched the fireworks from our front yard. Welcome Summer!!!!
Enjoying Hot Chocolate!
Getting ready for the Children's parade
Springville's Grand Parade!
Luke is such a little show off!
Every time I would try to take a picture he would stand in front of Kezlyn and pose himself He was being so silly, he is my perfect little model! The next few pictures are some of Lukie's own poses......
Mike bought a HUGE magnifying glass for the boys (I know kind of dangerous). Kaleb loves to burn bugs and anything else he can find. But only with close supervision! I decided to put the kids work and make some s'mores. YUMMY! Who needs to go camping now?
With Lukie's birthday money we bought him a little swimming pool just his size. Luke can't get completely wet because of his central line. Because of this he hardly ever has real baths and is usually scared of the water. It was a hot day today so I decided to give the pool a try. All of the neighbor kids surrounded Lukie and he loved all of the attention. After a few minutes of me standing in the pool with Lukie he loved the water and even splashed! Way to go Lukie!
Last week we took the kids to Thanksgiving Point. It was a beautiful day and the kids had lots of fun. Lukie growled at all of the farm animals. Isaac was super brave and wanted to ride on a pony. Lukie was too scared so we went on the horse wagon ride instead. Later Isaac told me "mom that was way better than Disneyland. Disneyland horses are just made of plastic and metal. I rode on a real horse!"
