Sleepless in Orem
Little Lucas was the best little sleeper. But the last month and a half has hardly slept at all, day or night. He has had two ear infections within two weeks of each other, and several blood and urine cultures in between. He has had a low grade fever and seems very uncomfortable. Last week I took him to the doctor for an other ear infection and antibiotic. Yesterday and today he has been fussy with a fever and had a rough night again last night. I thought the antibiotic must not working and took him to the on call doctor. She check his ears and thought they looked fine and got another opinion from the other Doc on call who also thought they looked fine. As the doctor said Lucas is kind of complicated, so they are doing a lot of testing to see if they can find the problem. Today was filled with taking Lucas to the doctor, waiting hours for home health care to take blood and taking Lukie to the hospital for respiratory testing. They are testing him for everything possible. They are doing everything they would be doing for him in the hospital while we are staying at home. They are trying not to admit Lukie because they are full of RSV during respiratory season. I just want to find out what is wrong so we can help him be comfortable with what ever is wrong!

so cute! that's great! he looks like he likes it:).
It's really just enough for oral stimulation. Things still don't go through, so we leave the G tube open so the rice cereal comes back out.
LOL...all my kids had that same reaction to their fist rice cereal...it's so funny to watch him...it's a step in the right direction...it may be coming back out the G tube, but he is getting the stimulation...these are what we call 'baby steps' as small as they may be...they are something. It's very clear Lucas is always going to have small baby steps...it's good to see...I just hope they can understand why he is so uncomfortable so he, and you can get some rest.....a happy mom makes a happy baby.....good lucks
There just aren't enough words to describe how precious Luke is! I think it's so cute, the way he is "tasting" that delicious rice cereal. You all amaze me. We pray for you always. Aunt Kaye, aka Grandma Kaye
So sweet! I loved his face during this new experience! He was so curious, and it was like, wow, is everything ok? I'm doing something! He's so adorable!! Kiss those sweet cheeks for me!
