More Lukie

Last week little Luke and I came down with colds. Nothing big, just a runny nose and sleepiness and went away in a few days. Saturday Lukie woke up lethargic with a fever of 103, my mothers intuition know he had a blood infection by the tone of his cry. I took him to the on call pediatrician who insisted on it being just his cold. We did blood work which showed some of his white blood cells were increasing meaning he was starting some kind of infection and we were admitted to the hospital at UVRMC. He has a staph blood infection in his broviac as well as his whole blood stream. IV antibiotics are kicking in and Lukie has perked up acting like himself again! The only problem this time is tring to keep him happy and busy. Lukie loves to crawl around and the dirty hospital floor is not ideal. We have taken him to the playroom several times which he loves! He also likes to go for walks and wave hi to all of his friends. The sad thing now is that Luke is so aware of everything that is going on. His nurse came in today to take more blood work and cultures and Lukie kept shaking his head NO! Today he loved standing by his window in his room and saying hi to people walking past, so cute. Yesterday Lukie's broviac was clotted and not working so they had to give him an IV. Now everyone that comes in Lukie's room he holds up his hand to show them his owie so sad! Is broviac is working again YaY! Now we are just praying that they can treat his infection via broviac so we will not have to get it replaced. Tonight when Mike and the boys left Lukie reached for Mike knowing he was going and I was staying. Mike picked him up and Lukie said Thank you, thinking Mike was taking him bye bye too it broke my heart. Counting down the days until we can go home again!
