Double Eye Surgery

Thursday (24th) was Mike and Isaac's big day. Mike was born cross eyed as a baby and had surgery to fix the problem. Over time Mike's eye drifted off to the side. He was told by other doctors this would be a problem he would live with. But after talking to the Doctor on Tuesday he was told the problem could be fixed!

Isaac would also go cross eyed when he would hold things close to his face or concentrate on things. Surgery would have to be done to fix the problem. Mike scheduled both the surgeries for Thursday. We figured it would be easiest to get both of them done on the same day. Now I don't know if it was such a good idea!

The Doctor said it was a simple surgery with not a lot of pain. The only thing you would really feel is itchy eyes like there is dirt in your eyes. This was not the case! Isaac was sore for the first day now he seems fine most of the time. It was really sad when he came out of surgery. He scram for an hour or so and kept saying "I don't like eye surgery, I thought it would help me see better but know I am BLIND!" He had a hard time at first but Isaac is always tough! Mike is still in a lot of pain and it was been almost 4 days. Mike says it is the worst pain he has ever felt. Even worse than breaking his leg. The Doctor said Mike could go back to work the next day and be fine, but there is no way he can go to work for another day or 2. He can barely open his eyes. Mike's eyes look great. I don't see a change in Isaac's eyes, it may even look worse to me, it's hard to tell. It takes up to 6 weeks for the eye to heal so we will have to wait awhile to see the final results.
