Surprise! Mike and I had a huge surprise when we got to the Hospital this morning. My sister Melissa and her cute little girl Eliza flew in from Pittsburgh to surprise us this morning. Melissa has been awesome this during this trial with little Lucas. She is here to help us in any way she can. Mike’s Grandma Bahr and Aunt Luann came to visit Lucas. It is great having family support. We came to the hospital feeling discouraged this morning after things that we had overheard yesterday. I requested to talk to a GI Doctor ASAP. We met Dr. Book for the first time. She had encouraging news for us. About four years ago she had a patient diagnosed with Chronic Intestinal Pseudo Obstruction. She presented almost exactly like Lucas. At 4 months she had NEC and emergency ostomy done. After 7 months the ostomy was reversed. In surgery they found part of the bowel was thin from lack of blood vessels. They removed that part of the bowel and now she is a perfect 4 year old. We do not know if that will be the case for Lucas but it could be encouraging. We may get answers when they reverse Lucas’s ostomy around Christmas time. She also told us Lucas’s belli Rubin went from 7 down to 2! That is great! Let’s hope for the best!

That is great Melissa came out -- she is always so fun to be around! Dr. Book is Makelle Groves doctor and I've heard great things about her. Glad to hear it was a good day!
